I was born in 1964 in a midsize German city south of Hamburg called Celle. From a very early age I was exposed to various forms of art. I attended as many art classes as I could in my home town.
I was fortunate enough to have attended classes focusing on watercolor with a very well known German artist named Martha Asfalck-Fietz, and I studied print making focusing on etching with Silvia Slawik-Nolte. At that point I was guided to study with Helga Hentschel-Holterdorf in Worpswede, an artist colony located in northern Germany (outside of Bremen) which hastened my already burgeoning desire to soak in as much art as possible.
In the mid 1980's I joined other local artists and we began to hold group shows in and around Celle and other north German cities. In 1989 I had my first solo show. This afforded me more notoriety, which lead to my work being introduced more widely.
As the early 1990's progressed, so did my work. I continued to attend art classes and I held more shows, both group and solo. I expanded to the larger surrounding cities such as Hannover, Hamburg and Tecklenburg.
After moving to the United States and settling in New York, I had my first solo show in the DUMBO Arts Festival in Brooklyn in (fill in year). Since that time I have had two solo shows in New York City.next >
